Southeast Pre-Academy League Presentation

What are the Pre-Academy Teams?

As a member club of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy (USSDA) Kendall SC has instituted a Pre-Academy program in order to expose younger members of the club to a similar training environment as the members of the Development Academy teams, as well as to dedicated competition against Pre-Academy teams of other clubs in the South Conference of the USSDA. In addition, since the teams that play in the USSDA are grouped based on calendar birth year and not the school year, the Pre-Academy teams are also grouped in this manner so that these players start training together earlier on and then advance with their peers into the senior Academy teams.

The Pre-Academy teams train four times per week to maintain a high training to game ratio and participate in leagues sanctioned by both FYSA and US Club Soccer. Under FYSA the teams will generally play Regular Season in the SFUYSA league and State Cup, with many team members playing an age up under that system, while under US Club Soccer the teams will participate in the Southeast Pre-Academy League as part of the National Premier Leagues (NPL) system. Currently, all of the teams in the Texas, Great Lakes, Liberty and Southeast divisions of the USSDA and most of the teams in the Atlantic, mid-Atlantic and Northeast divisions have at least one Pre-Academy team enrolled in the NPL. For more information about the NPL and the Southeast Pre-Academy league please see the links available on this page.

During the 2011-2012 season Kendall SC will field two Pre-Academy teams for players born after Janaury 1, 1996 (’96 Pre-Academy) and those born after January 1, 1997 (’97 Pre-Academy). The ’96 Pre-Academy team will play in the U16 age category in FYSA-sanctioned competitions and in the U15 age category in NPL Pre-Academy competition. The ’97 Pre-Academy team will play in the U15 age category in FYSA-sanctioned competitions and in the U14 age category in NPL Pre-Academy competition.
