U13G WHITE WINS CHAMPIONSHIP AT PLANTATION THANKSGIVING CLASSIC

December, 1, 2008 – Kendall SC’s U13G White battled through five challenging matches to emerge with the championship trophy of the top Gold Division of the 2008 Plantation Thanksgiving Classic, scoring another important victory for the Club’s girls program.

After scoring an early 4-1 win against Island Coast Soccer Alliance, Kendall SC followed with an impressive 1-0 victory over tournament favorite West Pines United. The win set them up for the decisive first round game against Jupiter Sting, needing at least a tie to advance to the semifinal. In a hotly contested game, they achieved just that with a scoreless tie. In the semifinal they scored a narrow 1-0 win against Naples Sharks and capped it all off with a solid 2-1 performance in the Final where they defeated Parkland Predators.

The U14G White also participated in the event, but struggled to overcome local rival, Pinecrest Premier, in a 1-4 opening loss. They next faced the other eventual finalist in the Gold Division, Plantation Eagles, and came up short 1-2 in what proved to be a decisive game. The girls finally hit their stride in the last game, posting a solid 3-0 decision over Wellington Wave.

The only two Kendall SC boys teams competing in the tournament were the U10B White and Blue. After winning their first four league games, the U10B White had high hopes for the tournament, but failed to gain traction in the Gold Division. They tied Weston Fury Arsenal 3-3 in the first game, but followed that up with losses to Key Biscayne – Milan (0-5) and Palm Beach Soccer Academy (0-3).

The U10B Blue fared better in the Blue Division, but not well enough to advance to the semifinal. The started off strong with a convincing 4-0 win over Weston Fury Juventus, and kept their hopes alive with a 1-1 tie against Ft. Lauderdale Select, but lost to Weston Wild White in the crucial third game.
