U16B BLUE CLAIM TITLE AT 2008 WEST PINES KICKOFF CLASSIC
Two other Kendall SC Boys Teams Reach Tournament Finals
October 27, 2008 – Kendall SC’s U16B Blue emerged victorious in the U16 Boys group at the 2008 West Pines Kickoff Classic in an all-Kendall SC Final against the U15B White team playing up. The 2-1 match was a taut affair in which the younger team mounted a strong comeback, but could not equalize the score. The U15B Blue also made it to the Finals in the U15 Boys Classic group before losing a hard fought game 0-1 against Mako Sharks.

The U16 boys got to the finals by defeating Cutler Ridge Fury 4-0, losing to Boca Juniors 1-5 in a rain drenched night game, and rebounding to defeat Weston Wild 6-0. The U15B White had emerged undefeated from group play with wins over Weston Wild (2-0), West Pines United Gold (6-0) and Boca Juniors (3-1).

The U15B Blue had a solid showing allowing only one goal in the preliminary round while posting a record of 2-0-1, with wins against West Pines United Gold (1- 0) and Cutler Ridge Fury (6-1), and a tie versus North Miami Maccabi (0-0).

Seven other Kendall SC boys teams participated in the tournament with mixed results. The U13B Blue fell one point short of reaching the Final in the U13 Classic group after scoring victories over Pinecrest Premier Panthers (2-0) and Coral Springs Storm (2-0), but losing the deciding match 1-2 to Weston Fury Nike.

The U13B White were also one point away from the U13 Premier Final in a very competitive grouping that produced a 1-1-1 record: a 5-1 win over Plantation FC Copa; a 0-1 loss to Palm Beach Hornets Gold; and a 1-1 tie against the eventual tournament champion, SAA Real Madrid.

After tying Kendall Hammocks Lightning 1-1 and defeating Selección Miami 3-0, the U14B White needed a victory against West Pines United Black to advance to the Premier Final, but fell short 1-4 against the current Florida state champions.
The U10B White team in action at the Kickoff Classic

In the younger age groups, although the U10B White failed to win any games, this newly formed team is showing great competitiveness and potential for the upcoming season. All the games were very close and competitive. On the first day they dropped a 4-5 decision to West Pines United Black and lost 1-3 to Weston Fury Arsenal in a game that was called prior to the second half due to lightning. On the second day of competition they faced their local and fierce rival SAA-Real Madrid. After a very hard fought game, the final whistle saw the opponent come out on top with a narrow 3-2 victory. The stage is set for a promising regular season and a possible rematch at the Plantation Thanksgiving Classic.

Kendall SC’s U10B Blue team played in the Classic Black grouping in which they defeated SAA – Real Madrid Castilla 4-2 and tied Davie United 0-0, but lost 0-7 to Weston Wild Blue.

The U11B White slipped out of the gate in the Premier grouping, losing 0-6 to West Pines United Black, but regrouped to find their stride in competitive matches against Weston Fury Nike - a 1-1 tie – and CTC Bandits – a 2-3 loss. And the newly-formed U9B White will continue to work on developing their budding skills after a challenging weekend in the Premier Black grouping in which they were not able to win any of their matches.
