Roles & Responsibilities

Role of the Coach/Trainer

Kendall SC trainers will oversee all aspects of their respective teams during the seasonal year.

The trainer shall comply with all aspects of the FYSA coaches Code of Ethics.

The trainer will make all decisions related to the playing time and positions on the field of the members of his/her team.  The club’s policy on playing time during league play is that on average, the player with the least amount of playing time gets no less than 20% less playing time than a player with the most playing time over the course of the year (not per game).  Tournament and League playoffs are excluded from this policy.

The club’s policy on players playing an age up is that the player must be able to start and / or contribute significantly on the 1st team an age up in order for the player to be considered to play permanently an age up. The club will also try to play the first team of an age group a year up to be challenged at a higher competitive level.

The trainer is responsible for the conducting training session and coaching games.

The trainer is responsible to meet the goals of the Kendall SC vision.

The trainer is responsible for communicating with the manager of the team and disposition of any issues that may arise within the respective team.  He/she is also responsible for discussing with a player and/or parent if there are excessive absences from practices and determining whether any disciplinary action will be taken with the player in question – always aiming to apply such actions fairly regardless of the status of a player on a given team.

The trainer is responsible for calling and presiding over team meetings.  There shall be a team meeting every month and announced to the parents with at least 5 days notice.

The trainer shall set the team’s practice schedule in conjunction with the Director of Operations and will notify parents of any schedule changes with at least 5 days notice. The trainer shall not change the team’s practice schedule on Kendall SC fields without first consulting with the Director of Operations.

The trainer is to be on time for all meetings, training session and games. Coaches/Trainers shall attend regularly scheduled monthly coaches meetings unless an emergency arises.

The trainer is to provide player evaluation twice each year with at least three months between both evaluations - the first in October and the second in April.

The trainer is responsible for following league, tournament, Region Cup, and/or State Cup rules and regulations for his/her appropriate age group.  In addition, the trainer must be aware of player and team registration deadlines and roster freeze dates.

The trainer shall receive the club’s approval prior to applying to any tournament that is not listed among the tournaments the club is attending.

Role of the Player

The Kendall SC player will be accountable for his/her actions for the seasonal year. The Club reserves the right to impose a suspension if a player’s actions or behavior are detrimental to the team or club. All players will be required to attend all practice sessions, to arrive on time and be properly attired (approved practice uniform). All players will be required to arrive 45 minutes to an hour prior to kickoff for team warm-up before games, at coaches’ discretion. Players shall notify their respective trainer if they will miss or be late for a training session or game.

Players should be prepared for all training sessions and games. That includes wearing proper uniform for training sessions (practice uniform) and games (warm-up gear and game uniform) with the exception for optional training only. All players should also wear proper shoes and shin guards for all training sessions and games, and take an inflated ball to every practice.

Players are expected to maintain and uphold the standards set forth by Kendall SC on and off the field of play (see FYSA Player code of ethics). In addition all players are expected to:

  1. Respect the trainer, DOC, team manager, all other Kendall SC players and staff, the game day opposing team, and referees.
  2. Not use tobacco, alcohol, or drugs. Players found to be using these substances will be removed from the program immediately.
  3. Not use profanity.
  4. Not act in a way that will negatively impact you, your family or Kendall SC.

Role of the Parent

The Kendall SC parent will be accountable for his/her actions for the seasonal year. The Club reserves the right to impose a suspension if a parent’s actions or behavior are detrimental to the team or club.

Kendall SC parents are expected to:

  1. Maintain and uphold the standards set forth by Kendall SC on and off the field of play. (See FYSA Parent code of ethics).

  2. Be very responsible, and be an enthusiastic, yet respectful spectator. Be a parent, not a coach or referee. Coaching from the sidelines is not appreciated nor allowed.

  3. Not use alcohol or tobacco during training sessions or games.

  4. Support your son/daughter in a positive manner.

  5. Be on time and enjoy the game!

  6. Make an effort to wear the clubs colors blue/yellow and/or white at all Kendall games to support the teams.

  7. Not interfere until the trainer dismisses the team from the training or game once your son/daughter has joined the team’s training session.

  8. Not interfere with the center referee or assistant referees, the opposing team’s players/parents or staff, or field marshal.

  9. Not use foul or abusive language.

  10. Stay on the opposite sideline from the team during games unless directed otherwise by the trainer, team manager, referee or field marshal.

  11. Not taunt opposing teams players, parents, coaches or spectators.

  12. Stay off the fields while the teams train or play.

If you need to address training or coaching issues, contact your respective trainer first and then the DOC-NOT THE MANAGER. After a game is not the time to approach the coach with a concern or complaint. Please allow 48 hours after the game before addressing any issue with the coach.  This will allow a window before any communication is made between parent and trainer. Email or phone call, or set up a meeting with the trainer.

At Kendall SC, the player is the future of the club.  This future depends a great deal on the growth of your Kendall player on the field and at home.  We encourage all parents to enjoy this time of your child’s development.

Enjoy the moment and give praise to your son or daughter for their effort, their passion, and their commitment to succeed and be successful.
