March 17, 2008 – Three Kendall SC teams entered the weekend playing in the semifinals of the SFUYSA Late Season playoffs, but only the U16B White emerged with the Championship trophy after besting Miami Strike Force 1-0 in the Semifinal and clinching the Final on penalty kicks 1-0 against CTC Bandits.

Kendall SC’s two other playoff teams fell in overtime matches in the semifinals after having led both contests. The U18B White opened a 1-0 lead against eventual champions CTC Bandits, but a late goal in regulation knotted up the score. CTC punched one in during the second overtime period to walk away with the victory.
The shorthanded U15B White played with only eleven players against Coral Springs Storm, and after missing several good scoring chances they headed into overtime tied 0-0. A penalty kick in the second overtime period gave Kendall SC the lead and it looked like they had earned the trip to the Final, but an own-goal on a free kick as time expired forced a penalty shootout. After nine boys had walked up to the line Coral Springs was one kick better.
Congratulations to all three teams for having represented Kendall SC well in league play and best wishes in the upcoming State Cup matches. |
