TWO KENDALL SC TEAMS BATTLE TO DISNEY JR. SHOWCASE SEMIFINALS U14B White improve on last year’s record and U11B White have strong first showing
November 29, 2007 – Two of the four Kendall SC teams that traveled to the Disney Jr. Showcase over Thanksgiving weekend advanced to their respective semifinal rounds in what is considered one of the top youth soccer tournaments in the country. The U14B White posted a 2-1-1 record in the Copa Group, while the U11B White also finished with a 2-1-1 record in the Predator Group.
The U14B White started off with a 1-1 tie against Maryland’s Heroes Futbol Black Stars and closed out the preliminary round with two shutouts, 2-0 over New York’s Albertson Academy and 6-0 over Birmingham United Select, to qualify for the semifinals. That’s where there run ended with a 0-2 defeat at the hands of Blackwatch Dundee.
The U11B White started off their first trip to the Showcase in style with a come-from-behind win over Birmingham United South Blue (3-2) and a convincing defeat of Georgia’s Alpharetta Ambush White (5-1). Having secured a pass to the semifinal round, they turned it down a notch to tie Valrico Dawgs of War 1-1 before facing Georgia’s top-ranked U11 team, Alpharetta Ambush Red. The Ambush showed their class handing Kendall SC a 1-4 defeat, but by no means dampening their spirits.
The two other Kendall SC teams who traveled to Orlando for the tournament were the U13B White, who finished 0-2-1 in the Showcase White bracket, and the U13B Blue, who also finished 0-2-1 in the Predator bracket. |
