All Kendall SC Teams Advance to FYSA State Cup Round 2

All five Kendall SC Boys teams competing in the First Round of the 2017 State Cup advanced to the Second Round of the state championship tournament, which begins on April 8 in locations throughout Florida. Three of the five teams won their First Round groups and the club’s teams emerged from round robin play with only one loss combined.

The U13 Academy Reserve team finished in 2nd place on goals scored tiebreaker with a 1-2-0 record. They defeated C.E.S. Santos SC 2-1, and tied Miami Lakes United 2-2 and ANESA Elite Black 1-1. Kendall SC will face Doral White on April 8, ACYS Spirit United Elite on April 22 and Davie United Sharks Blue on April 23.

The U14 Academy Reserve finished in 1st place in its group with two wins and no losses. They scored victories over Key Biscayne SC Elite (5-0) and Lauderhill SC Inter (3-1). They next play Royal Palm Beach Strikers on April 8, Florida Rush I on April 9, and OCYS Purple I on April 22.

The U15 Academy Reserve also finished in 1st place in its group with three wins and no losses. They bested Doral Blue 1-0, West Pines United Gomez 3-0, and Ft. Lauderdale FC Blue 4-1. Their Second Round games include OCYS Purple II on April 8, Florida Elite on April 9 and Miami Lakes United on April 23.

The U16 Academy Reserve came within a hair of not qualifying for the Second Round, but after an initial loss they rebounded with two solid wins to secure the only Wild Card spot with the best second place record of 10 First Round groups. After losing to Boca United Pre-Academy 3-4, they dominated Palm Beach SA 6-1 and clinched it with a 4-1 win over Miami Lakes United. They will play West Pines United Liza on April 8, Clay County Rangers Red on April 9, and Tallahassee Hotspur Elite on April 22.

The U17 Academy Reserve had to win its group by a goal differential tiebreaker, but still had a strong showing with wins over Loyola Soccer (4-0) and Plantation FC (3-0) and a tie against second-place Miami Strike Force 1-1. They will meet up with Leg-AZ Caimans on April 8, Florida Elite on April 22 and Sunrise Elite on April 23.

Best of luck to all the boys in their Second Round games.
