’04 Pre-Academy Wins Region A Cup and Reaches Presidents Cup Final

Kendall SC’s ’04 Pre-Academy team won the Region A Cup U12 - Division 1 title and went on to play in the Presidents Cup Final losing out on the Florida state championship game to Chargers SC - Clearwater Red in a hotly contested match.

The Kendall SC ’04 boys, most of who hope to form part of next season’s inaugural U12 U.S. Soccer Development Academy group, kicked off the Region A Cup competition sweeping through their first round group en route to a first place finish. Kendall SC scored wins over Davie United Sharks Blue (2-1), West Pines United – Fernandez (5-1), and a decisive victory over Weston FC ’05 Pre-Academy (3-0).

The Quaterfinal match saw Kendall SC squeeze out a 1-0 decision in a rematch with Weston FC and they went on to win the Semifinal by a narrow 2-1 margin over Boynton Beach Knights Black. The boys gave themselves breathing room in the Final with a more comfortable 4-1 victory over Doral SC White that earned them the right to represent South Florida in the Presidents Cup against the Region Cup champions of the three other Florida regions.

Perhaps not coincidentally, the three regions that host U.S. Soccer Development Academy clubs each sent a team from a Development Academy club to represent them in Presidents Cup. Kendall SC bested Orlando SC Pro Academy 1-0 in a thrilling State Semifinal, but fell short of their dream when they lost the State Final to Chargers SC by a score of 0-1.

Congratulations to the ’04 Pre-Academy team members and their coach Orlando Bueso on a very successful 2015-2016 season.
